There are 7 states that do not have state taxes which are shown in gray – Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. New Hampshire does not offer refund tracking on their website.  Tennessee does not require personal state income tax return. State income tax is limited to dividends and interest income only.

According to the IRS: you can expect your refund within 21 calendar days after the IRS receives your tax return if you have filed an electronic return.  

If you mailed your return, expect to wait about 6 weeks.

IRS suggests waiting 24 hours if you have e-filed your return; wait 4 weeks to check the status if you have filed a paper return.

The IRS updates Where’s My Refund tool every 24 hours (usually at night).
